Kenute J. Hammond
K.J. Hammond is the Director of Multimedia Services at St. John's University and CEO of Brand Nute Media LLC. Originally from Long Island, N.Y., K.J. always knew he wanted a career working in sports. Once he realized his athletic abilities were not on par to make him the next Michael Jordan, he pivoted to a role in front of the camera.
During K.J.'s sophomore year at Ithaca College, he began to develop his craft of being a sports reporter. He became a beat writer for, The Ithacan, covering D-III college football and basketball. K.J. stepped up to the Division I level when he covered college athletics at Loyola Marymount University in southern California for a semester. Upon his arrival back to the east coast, K.J. interned with the local station WENY Elmira and was the sports anchor for ICTV's Newswatch.
Upon graduation, K.J. was granted the opportunity to work at Providence College in the athletics department while simultaneously working towards a graduate degree. K.J. created content and covered sporting events for all Friars athletics. The job brought K.J. to a few places including Boston, Milwaukee, and Manhattan to cover events such as Frozen Fenway and the Big East Tournament.
After grad school, K.J. made another pivot to mostly behind the camera. As the Director of Multimedia at St. John's University, K.J. produced over 100 digital streaming broadcasts and 250 social media posts. However, the most engaging part of his job is working with college students and teaching them how to put on a live show!
K.J. loves meeting new people, hearing their stories, leaving a lasting impression, and building his network.
When K.J. is not devoting the majority of his time to the sports industry, he likes to exercise, sleep, and spend time with family and friends.
